Hope everyone had a great New Year’s Eve. Happy new year, all.

For reading, I made great progress in A Time to Kill by John Grisham.

For data analysis, I continued testing the Whisper model dictation assistant I’ve been talking about. We ran into some snags, but nothing too serious.

I also powered up my Master Link Log, which is an Excel spreadsheet where I keep track of all the links I have in all my books. Any time I publish a book, I export all the links from the EPUB and put it into this file. Then, I created a macro that runs through each link, tests it, and marks it either “OK” or “Invalid.”

On January 1 each year, I rerun the macro and look for any links that might have broken or expired since last year. Fortunately, out of all the links I have across all my books, only 4 came back invalid. That’s less than 0.002 percent of all my links, which is pretty amazing. The invalid links were either issues with Vellum or redirects. There was only 1 true broken link, and it was an immaterial one.

Anyway, I spent about an hour cleaning up those links and reuploading new interiors to book retailers. Everything looks nice and clean at the moment, which is how I like it.

For marketing, no work today.

For production, no words today.
