I had a decent day today even though my word count was a bit on the low side.
For starters, I finished the marketing book today. It's written, edited, and ready for my editor. I started writing a short story today, so I will wait until I finish that so I can send to things to my editor and be a little more efficient. But overall, I feel pretty good about the marketing book. It's as comprehensive as I could make it, and I hope that many of you will find it useful.
And thank you for those who voted in the poll for my next book, which will be… AI art for authors!
I'm pumped to write this book, though it is going to take me some time to prepare. I don't plan on writing it until next week. This means I will likely write a handful of short stories and chapters toward Indie Author Confidential before diving into it. However, once I dive into it, it should be a pretty quick book. There's a lot to cover, but I think the book will be short. Short for me means somewhere around 10,000 words. My vision of this book at this point is really to be more of a “here's what's possible” and “here are the issues and how you might want to think about them” rather than a “here's how to use AI art.” The technology is rapidly evolving, and my biggest challenge with this book will be keeping it evergreen.
I'm sitting at 2900 words for the night, which I’d call a win.
I don’t like to waste any time so I started writing a new science fiction story. It's off to a bit of a shaky start, but that's mostly because I was so focused on finishing up the marketing book today. Also, I purchased Grammarly Premium two thirds of the way through writing the marketing book, which meant that I had to review a bunch more grammar checks. Most were garbage, but the ones it caught I was happy with. Anyway, that messed up my concentration on the short story a bit, which will be rectified tomorrow.
For marketing, I researched keywords and categories for the top-secret project I have been working on, and I think the results were so so. It is what it. I guess this could be a data analysis item as well, so I'll call it.
Anyway, I've got some laundry (and dictating) to do. I'm writing a time travel short story for the first time. Wish me luck… Have a good night.
