This is shaping up to be a great week.

For reading, I’m still making progress in IDW’s TMNT.

For data analysis, no work yet………but I’ve got to get my sales report macros updated, so that’s going to be a big project. Probably this week. It might be all you hear about for a few days lol

For marketing, I am officially confirmed at an-person speaking event that I hope to announce sometime in the coming months. It’s an unusual one because of where it’s located, but it will be a part of the country I haven’t been to before.

Also booked another podcast interview that I’ll announce once it’s out.

Monday, I’ll be speaking with James Blatch on the Self-Publishing Formula Podcast again to talk about estate planning for authors. I’ll also be talking to PR by the Book, a publicist firm who wants me to talk to its group about publishing wide.

Also folks, my podcast episode on the Self-Publishing Advice Podcast with Sacha Black is live today. This is Sacha and my’s second episode, and we had a lot of fun with this one. We answer the top self-publishing questions. Questions include design plagiarism, media liability insurance, and direct sales strategies. Listen here: https://selfpublishingadvice.org/book-design-plagiarism/.

For production, I’m sitting at 1,000 words today but I’m already at my quota for the week. I have some non-writing things I need to do this weekend so I’ll probably shoot for around 2,000 words tonight and tomorrow to give me some time to clean things up.

I also finished a short story last night called “Parallel World Dissidents.” I’ll start another story Sunday-ish so I can give myself a bit of a break to work on some publishing business stuff, which is desperately needed.

I did want to talk about something separate though.

Now we’re almost halfway through October. As I’ve said many times, October is a wonderful month to do planning for 2023.

October is the best month for the next year’s planning. Here’s why:

  • November is NaNoWriMo
  • December is Christmas…
  • January is too late.
  • September is too early.

At least here in the United States, the leaves are changing and it’s beautiful fall (at least in the Midwest). What an amazing time to reflect on the year you’ve had and the year ahead. You’ll be changing along with the autumn leaves.

Some of my goals for next year:

  • Write 1 million words
  • Complete the Ray Bradbury Challenge (52 short stories in one year)
  • Submit all my short stories to magazines (52ish…)
  • Publish new covers that I have designed

Anyhoo, this is just another reminder as we hit the middle of the month that 2023 will be here before you know. Make sure you hit the ground running when January 1 gets here.

Have a great night.
