On paper, I didn't have a good day today, but in practice, I had a great day.

I'm not taking a complete zero word count for the day today, but my count will probably be around 1000 words. This is because my day got derailed in a good way. More on that in a minute.

For reading, started reading Kevin J. Anderson's book double booked a Dan Shamble zombie story. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm listening to the raw dictated audio that Kevin provided as part of his Kickstarter campaign, and I am finding it fascinating. Kevin Anderson is a fellow dictator, and someone I consider to be world-class at it. Hearing him dictate is just jaw-dropping.

For data analysis, I didn't do any work in that area.

For marketing, I finalized buying out my narrator for an audiobook that I produced back in 2014 (Reconciled People: Stories). The audiobook was great, and I have no problems with it. ACX informed the narrator and I that they finally removed the book from sale, so I spent some time preparing the audiobook for re-upload and distribution wide. This will be the first fiction title that I distribute through Findaway Voices, and I'm looking forward to seeing how that goes. My expectations are low because this is a short story collection, but it will be a good trial run.

And in more audiobook news, I also finalized an agreement with another narrator to produce an audiobook for the productivity book that I wrote during this year’s Beast Mode challenge. I am still not ready to announce the title of that book, but I suspect that many of you will be very interested in it.

I prepared the book for audio today, giving it a final read and making some small changes here and there to make it more audiobook-friendly. I sent the book to the narrator tonight, and he has promised to start working on the book next week, with a target finish date by Thanksgiving. That should put us on track for a late November/early December release date, just in time for the holidays. This book will be available wide.

Audiobooks capitalized my time today, but it is worth it because they are a fantastic source of income and not something that you produce every day. Besides, I am well ahead of my weekly quota and should hit my required 19,250 words by the end of tomorrow night. So, either way, I am going to exceed my word count plan for the week. I still win, even with a low word count day today.

Speaking of word counts, I am sitting around 1,000 words for the day today. I’ll take it. I will pick up where I left off tomorrow, which hopefully will be a better writing day.

Remember, folks: writing is about averages, and the more you write, the more the law of averages will work in your favor. I'm just glad today wasn't a zero word count day.
