Another solid day today. I’m hanging in there and keeping momentum on this novel.
For reading, I continued reading Vol. 3 of IDW’s TMNT. I just started the City Fall sequence, which has been really fun so far.
For data analysis and marketing, I did no work in these areas because my current promo is enough. Anyone can download Shadow Deal for $0.99 at https://www.michaellaronn.com/shadowdeal.
For production, I wrote 3142 words today. I still need to loop my last session so it will likely end up closer to 3400 or so when I’m done. I’m maintaining a good momentum, and today will definitely help me out.
I’m focused strictly on production until the end of July because I want to finish this current novel before launching into Beast Mode. That means with a little extra focus I could potentially hit 40,000 by tomorrow night and maybe 45,000 by the end of the weekend. That leaves me with about 15,000 words left for the 7 days left in the month. With a quota of 2200, that’s 15,400 words I’ll write if I keep my current momentum, which means I’ll cross the 60,000-mark by August 1, which means the novel will probably be done, if not very, very close.
The only problem? I won’t be able to write on Saturday due to a speaking event. If I do write, it’ll be very little. That’s why I need to stay focused for the next week. Any days (like today) where I can write slightly better than my 2200-word quota will be helpful.
I am now sitting at 38,000 words, which is somewhere around the 63% mark. That means if I hit my quota tomorrow, I’ll break 40,000.
Anyway, what I don’t want to do is start hitting 4,000 or 5,000 days yet. I certainly can do it, but steady momentum is always better than quick bursts. Also, my data shows that quick bursts are often followed by heavy goose eggs, so I prefer staying steady and even with my words. Plus, it makes the looping easier.
I’ve decided that when I surpass the 75% mark or when I know how the novel will end, whichever occurs first, I’ll turn the turbo-thrusters on. This novel still very much has me in the dark about how it will end.
Also, I’m finally bumping up against the final third mark. My visibility started getting cloudy at the end of the day today, which is exactly what I predicted. I know what is going to happen in the next couple of chapters, but beyond that, it’s starting to get fuzzy again. As I said earlier this week, the good thing is that things shouldn’t be fuzzy for too long. Just a few thousand words or so. Then I should see the ending pretty clearly.
Anyway, I’m off to do some looping. Have a good night.
