For reading, I fell off the wagon today. I’ll try to get back on tomorrow.

For data analysis, I reviewed the edits I received for my productivity book. I was floored. To give you a reference, my last book benchmarked at 1 edit per 632 words. This book benchmarked at 1 edit per 1400 words!!!

Exceptionally clean, and a personal best.

Whatever I was smoking when I wrote this, I want more of it…

But, really, what was the difference?

1. I perfected my dictation macro and introduced new commands, cleaning up my errors considerably.

2. I got more comfortable with my macros.

Anyhoo, I am happy with the results and hope that I can keep it up. Even with this book, I still found errors that I can front-load and hopefully catch next time. My system just keeps getting better and better.

For marketing, I submitted both of the short stories I wrote to magazines today. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I also inventoried my old short stories and found a few that are publish-worthy. They aren’t magazine quality, but certainly something I can give to readers. I’ll include them in my next collection, which should be forthcoming later this year. I’ve got about 10 stories that are ready to publish, so I’m collecting them into a story collection.

I had a crazy idea to see if I can find my VERY FIRST short story that I ever wrote back when I was 15. I don’t know if I’ll be able to, but wow wouldn’t that be fun to slip into a collection someday…It’s about a kid who wants to be a clown but his dad wants him to be a stockbroker. He can’t take the pressure, so he runs away with the circus. It’s called “Desi the Clown.” No idea if I’ll be able to dig it up. It’s been a long time. It may be lost to the ages.

I also have a magazine article upcoming in Writer’s Digest and I received the print galleys for approval. They looked great. Magazine drops later this year.

Also, my series The Last Dragon Lord is on sale on Audible this week. If you want to check it out, get it here for less than the price of coffee (even after inflation!): https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Last-Dragon-Lord-Audiobook/B07T938HXF

Finally for marketing, I wrote some newsletters that will be going out over the next few weeks for my fiction. I’m cross-collaborating with another UF author as well as running a promo on The Good Necromancer in October, just in time for Halloween.

For production, I finished The Indie Author Bestiary II yesterday. My final word count for the day was 6900, not 5500, so I definitely had a better day than I expected. Today, I’ll review the book, prepare for my editor and get it off to her either tonight or first thing in the morning.

I also spent some time working on my secret project, editing some chapters.

I also wrote some commentary for a short story that was accepted in an upcoming anthology later this year and got it reviewed and shipped off to the editor of the anthology.

I fully expect to be under quota, though I did a lot of dictating today. I’m probably sitting around 2,000 words or so. I haven’t transcribed my audio yet today. I’m going to book 2,000 for the purposes of tonight’s post but the number may go up or down depending on how accurate I was. I’m usually pretty good at estimating it.

Anyway, have a good night.
