Taught another insurance class today, my final one of the year. Many of the students were in Louisiana, right in the path of Hurricane Zeta. They chose to be there, and that’s dedication. Anyone who’s in the path of the hurricane, please stay safe.

I finished working on the debut of the challenge I’ll be embarking on after “Beast Mode.” You all know that I can’t keep myself occupied enough…

Starting November 1st, I’ll be transitioning into Amnesia Mode

Huh??

From August 1 to October 20ish, I wrote 7 books. I now have 7 books in my catalogue that didn’t exist 60 days ago, and that’s a beautiful thing.

Now I’ve got to figure out how to market them.

Additionally, I neglected a lot of my marketing during beast mode. I let my AMS ads run themselves, which they did, but I need to start paying more attention.

There’s probably other things I can be doing, too.

So the idea is this: what if I woke up tomorrow with amnesia and needed to figure out how to make money from my books?

(We’ll pretend I fell down and hit my head…running joke….)

Whoa…I wrote THIS MANY books? Cool! How do I market them, and where the heck do I start?

It’s a lot to chew on, honestly. Which books do I promote? How much do I promote them? How do I promote them?

With Amnesia Mode, I am effectively pretending to start all over again, as if I know absolutely nothing about marketing.

What if I reread all the marketing books I bought over the years? What new things might they suggest?

What if I doubled down on relearning copywriting?

What if there were old marketing techniques I could dust off and try again? What might happen?

During Amnesia Mode, I’ll be focusing on:

  • Learning 1 new marketing thing every day (remember, amnesia)
  • Implementing 1 new marketing thing every day (it may not be exactly every day, but I’ll try)

And I’ll report on what I’m learning. While I won’t share my sales, I will share what I’m learning (and implementing), and maybe you can learn something from it. Or maybe I’ll find out that there’s nothing I can do to improve my sales, and that I just need to keep writing!

Anyhoo, this initiative supports my 2021 strategy, which you can view here: https://authorlevelup.com2021strategy. My main marketing goals are to grow my Amazon ad imprint and also improve my copywriting skills, but there’s a lot more I can could be doing to improve my sales for fiction, too. I look forward to sharing this with everyone.

I’m publishing this post way early today because I’ll probably be going to bed early tonight…for a change.

In the mean time, I’ve got some books to read.
