Wrote around 1500 words. Also got some writing time in at the doctor’s office today, which was a major win.

I’m thinking about a new project that may be a little insane…more on that in a minute.

LESSON LEARNED & EXECUTED

No lesson learned, but I activated a new battery of ads for the Indie Author Confidential series. Since I have a box set, I made the choice to only advertise that. I lose a little money long-term, but it’s a better reader experience. Also, I don’t have to worry as much about people saying “I bought Volume 1 and then I found out he had a box set. #!@#%@#%@!”

We’ll see how the ads do.

But boy, did I have a blowout ad day today. I started strong and hovered between a 2 and 4 conversion rate all day until I hit a bunch of sales around dinner time that pretty much made me profitable for the next few days. Cool stuff!

Weekends seem to be unprofitable for me, so I’ll take this good fortune with the understanding that this weekend may not be very good for me (I’m bracing myself for another bloodbath, actually, based on the last two weekends).

INTERESTING IDEA

Anyhoo, so I’m restless again. I’ve got the urge to write fiction again, and when I say urge, I mean, write a LOT of fiction, and you guys know what that means…

I will be working on the Good Necromancer series, but I want to do something new too. I want to shake things up a bit for my urban fantasy pen name and drive new readers to my platform.

This idea is multifaceted, so stick with me.

SOME FACTS…

#1: I’m fat and I need to lose weight.

#2: I’m restless and need to write fiction.

#3: My exercise bike has been lonely lately.

#4: My fiction readers have been lonely lately.

#5: This back pain has made me remember the convenience of dictation…

#6: I’ve been looking for a good opportunity to stretch myself with not only dictation, but transcription, too.

The idea…an EXERCISE FICTION CHALLENGE

I will workout on my exercise bike at least one hour each day.

During that hour, I will dictate a new urban fantasy series.

This will net me approximately 9,000 words per day. That’s 63,000 words per week, give or take a few thousand. Roughly a novel, maybe a little more. It would be around 270,000 words in one month.

That’s approximately one novel per week. Kind of insane. I’ve only ever done that once, and that was TYPING. I did do it into the dark, though.

And it gets better (or worse, depending on your worldview, LOL)

The rules:

#1: I can only write new words while I’m on the bike and moving. (I can do touchups and correct errors on my computer, though.)

#2: I can only dictate the books. No typing new words.

#3: I must write the books into the dark.

#4: I must write the books in one draft.

#5: I may have an assistant do some of the touching up to save me time so I’m only focusing on writing new words and “looping” (it’s a writing into the dark technique).

Hmmm…..

What would a novel represent look like in pounds lost, or miles pedaled? Very fascinating question.

Also, if I continued this pace for an entire month, I’d have a long series finished, maybe 3 or more books. What if I ordered covers and edits and published the entire series ON THE SAME DAY, and then followed up with all the tactics from Amnesia Mode, copywriting and Amazon Ads that I’ve been posting over the last few weeks?

It would be like Beast Mode + Amnesia Mode rolled into one, but with a much, much shorter timeline. If I started this at the end of December, I’d aim to be done by end of February. The big question mark is the covers, but I can deal with that. The point is to start 2021 strong with a new fiction series and also by stretching myself to do something I’ve never done before.

OH, and another wrinkle? Law school classes begins at the end of January….the clock is a-ticking, friends…

It’s so crazy, I just might try it…once my back gets better of course…
