1209 words. Less than I'd hoped, but hey, it's the last day of 2020, and we all need a break.

If you're reading this, it means you survived what will (hopefully) be the most memorable and tumultuous year of our lives. While this pandemic is far from over, it's an accomplishment that we are seeing the end of this year. I am saddened by the people who are no longer with us, and all the dreams and hopes that we lost this year.

We've been suffering collectively, and this year has taken its toll on everyone in different ways.

If you managed to keep writing this year in spite of all the madness, well done. 2020 is now the benchmark for the rest of your career—whenever things get hard, just remember this year. If you wrote and published during this hard time, then let that be your fuel.

If you weren't able to write, that's okay. 2021 is your oyster. Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start anew.

No matter your situation, keep going and keep at it. I suspect a lot of writing careers ended in 2020. But I also suspect that a lot of people took off in 2020.

Keep yourself occupied. Kee learning. Keep the writing fun as Dean Wesley Smith says. It's one of the main reasons I've been doing challenges like Beast Mode, Amnesia Mode, and this exercise challenge. It gives me something to look forward to while sharpening my skills so that I can thrive in 2021.

Anyhoo, I don't have much to report today other than that I will do my best to hit my regular routine tomorrow. 1200 words isn't bad for New Years’ Eve.

Have a safe and happy new year.
