4500 words today. I officially finished Indie Author Confidential, Vol. 4, which makes Book #54 official. Second book for the year is done. It ended up around 40,000 words, which is right in line with prior books in the series. My target for this year is to get to book #64.
I just need to do a final loop of a couple chapters before sending to my editor, which will probably happen either late tonight or early tomorrow. Then I need to go hunt for a good cover image so I can get that organized with my designer.
The developer I’ve been working with sent me a photo of the app he’s developing for me for the editing project I’m working on. Looks pretty cool, and he is on track to deliver it tomorrow. I gave him some minor feedback but the real test will come when he delivers it tomorrow and I started testing it.
My cover designer also sent me the next iteration of the cover, which now has typography…and I didn’t like it…
It was kind of a bummer, honestly. But I never like the first edition of final covers. Pretty normal, but still depressing…
I spent some time giving the designer feedback so we can work together and get it right. Overall, I think we can get it to a good spot, but it’s going to take some work and patience, and probably the better part of the next week or so. That’s always the issue with illustrated covers. The illustration always goes smooth but then it’s the typography that’ll sink you if you’re not careful. Fortunately, I’ve done this enough times that I saw this issue coming and was ready for it. I have a technique that I use with designers that usually smooths this issue out. But we’ll ultimately see how well I do in shepherding this one to the market.
I do have a final, last-resort, really don’t want to use if I don’t have to-option, but…I’ll cross that bridge if I get to it because it would be a PITA. So the good thing is that I have options right now and the designer is doing a great job and is very responsive, which is the best you can ask for.
Anyway, the next project will be 250 Writing Tips, Vol. 2, where I have about 12 chapters I need to write. I’m holding off on writing Book 2 in my series at the moment because a fact checker is due to send me feedback tomorrow or Friday, and my editor may have something for me soon as well, so I don’t want to start it and then have to stop.
Also, I watched Dave Chesson’s Keyword course. An absolute must-watch. And a very cheap course, too. I highly recommend it, as I learned quite a bit that I will be using this with my new series: https://courses.kindlepreneur.com/courses/Kindle-Keywords
Have a good night.
