I’m finally ready to do this thing!!!

I didn’t exactly finish my book description, but I feel better about it now. I’m not going to delay things any further—time to jump into this.

Here’s what I did over the last few days to prepare:

  • Cleared my email inbox to zero so I can keep it there quickly and easily
  • Recorded 7 YouTube videos for my editor so he has plenty to tide him over next week, as I won’t be doing any shoots for the duration of the challenge
  • Recorded Writer’s Journey well in advance, and have an episode ready for next week so I don’t have to worry about recording audio during the challenge.
  • Recorded Writing Tip of the Day and got that locked and loaded for the next month.
  • Cleared my early morning and evening calendar for the next 10 days or so (with only a couple exceptions).
  • Got Book 1 of my series loaded into Vellum and ready to publish.
  • Got my book description as far as I can take it.
  • Determined the first scene of Book 2 so I can start writing at 5AM.
  • Got my workout clothes ready and laying out so I can grab them easily!

There’s nothing stopping me at this point, and I’m ready to fly.

If anyone wants to do the challenge with me, post your results here every night and I’ll cheer you on.

THE CHALLENGE

In case you didn’t know, I’m starting up a 5-5-50,000 challenge where my goal is to write a novel in 10 days by:

  • waking up at 5AM every day
  • writing like crazy
  • 5,000 words per day

5,000 is usually more than I write for fiction daily. Usually I’m around 2,000 to 3,000, so I’m going to definitely work up a sweat. It’s going to require me to sideline my critical voice and keep momentum even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s also going to require me to be ruthless and efficient with my writing time. We’ll see if it works. Even if I fail and get this done in 12 days, that’s still a success.

Anyhoo, I’m ready, so the fun begins tomorrow.

NEW BOOK ALERT

It took a while for my newest book to show up everywhere, so I’m announcing it now.
