Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Much appreciated.

I’m about 100% now and back to my normal routine. I did some ALLi work today, and put in another very long day at work. The rest of the week may be a little bumpy, but I actually don’t mind it.

I call it The Life Triangle:

  • Work
  • Writing
  • Personal

Here are the “laws” I’ve observed with the triangle in my own life (this is 100% terrible trigonometry but it’s late, I’m tired and I don’t want to break my blogging streak…):

  • the best times in life are when all parts of the triangle are evenly distributed.
  • but usually, one side is dominant, another side is submissive, and the final side is dormant
  • the dominant side occupies most of your time. Sometimes it’s work; sometimes it’s writing; sometimes it’s life.
  • the submissive side is what you can turn to when you need a breather from the dominant side. That’s why writing such good stress relief. But sometimes, work is a good escape, too.
  • the dormant side leaves you alone. It’s there, but it’s not causing you any problems. For example, writing right now has been dormant this week. Nothing’s going badly even though I’m not making much progress. There have been many seasons in my life where work has been dormant, enough to make space for me to grow my writing endeavors. But Every part of the triangle morphs and shifts all the time. The secret is that it never stays in place for very long, so the key is to lean into it.

Anyway, I used bad trigonometry to explain where I’m at right now. Maybe it resonates with you. The key is that things always shift. Enough about that.

I also booked another speaking engagement, so can’t argue with that.

I also did some number crunching on my sales and ad spend. April was a pretty good month given all the stuff I had going on. It’s one of the reasons I call books “assets.” They’re like stocks. Sometimes you’re up and sometimes you’re down, but as long as you keep investing smartly, you’ll be okay.

I also need to desperately start preparing material for my next speaking event. Maybe tomorrow. Or the day after…

Looking forward to the power hour this weekend so I can restart my writing habit.

Have a good night.
