2500 words today. I have another writing session after this and I should hit close to 3000 but either way I had a good day.
The novel is still cruising. I saw the glimmer today.
I know roughly how this is going to end and there aren’t any major obstacles, so that’s a good thing. Near the end of today, I stumbled a little bit and came across an issue in the story that I didn’t have an answer for. I anticipate that this is the final kink. It feels very similar to how the final kink in Rat City felt, and I trust my gut.
Fortunately, I got to take a long car ride today and I resolved to find the answer by the end of the car ride. My mind did some heavy lifting and I found the answer.
It turns out when you’re writing without an outline and you get stuck, sometimes the answer is behind you. I went back and reread a couple early chapters in the novel, and the answer was there waiting for me. Now I just have to make it happen.
My second and final fact checker provided feedback to me for Rat City as well. I had hoped to get around to reviewing some of the edits but I ran into that roadblock I mentioned with Cold Hard Magic, so I diverted my resources to solving that so I could hit 40K as soon as possible.
At this rate, I’ll be done with the novel by end of the week, so I’m taking advantage of the words while they’re flowing easily. Steady and consistent—that’s the best way to go.
I have an early early morning tomorrow with an international conference call at 5:30 AM so I’m going to start getting ready for bed after another quick writing session. The good news is that I’ll have a longer morning writing sprint, so my lower word count today can easily be made up before breakfast.
The plan is to hit 40K tomorrow. Once that happens, I’ll shift into the next gear, go into mega Beast Mode and race toward the end.
