16,500 words today. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
OK, I have some explaining to do.
After posting my blog yesterday, I did another 3000 words, which actually put me at 8000 words for the day. I added that 3000 to today’s count because I technically wrote them pretty late last night.
Next, I had a fantastic writing day today at around 5000 words. So, that puts me at around 8000 of the 16,500 words (if my math is right…it’s late and I’m tired).
Next, I was able to repurpose some sections from previous writing books into the Writing Without an Outline book. These were concepts that I wrote about pretty well and it made sense to import them and change them a little to suit the theme of the book. That was around 8000 words. It’s a lot, but it’ll make sense when you read it.
So, the 16,500 words isn’t really 16,500, but hey. I’m at 23,000 words on the book and I’m really cooking now.
I’m two chapters away from opening up voting for my next book……so this one is going to go pretty fast. The two chapters are big chapters so I don’t expect to finish them right away, but it will be soon.
I’m also going to do something that I haven’t done in a very long time with my nonfiction: I’ll be opening this book up to beta readers. 2-3 people who are pantsers who would be willing to take a look at it and give me feedback on what works, what could be better, any sections that don’t make sense, or anything I need to add.
All experience levels are welcome. It’s fine if you’ve never written a book as a pantser but aspire to.

I anticipate finishing the book early next week, with beta copies going out sometime before Labor Day.
I’ll be asking for a 2-week maximum turnaround for feedback, so only sign up if you can accommodate that. (Due date would be sometime mid-September so I can get it off to my editor and published by end of the month).
September is going to be a crazy month. I’ll be publishing my Rat Shifter series, my new Good Necromancer book, my writing app book, and another book that I wrote earlier this year that I haven’t talked about. Plus the pantsing book. That’s 6 books……..and could be more if I keep my current streak.
Anyway, I am still preparing for my speeches tomorrow. I’m speaking at the Writer’s Digest Science Fiction & Fantasy Conference, and right after that, I’m hopping on the Indy Author Podcast with Matty Dalrymple, so I expect a lower word count tomorrow. After a 16K word day, I can afford a word cut. LOL
Have a great weekend.
