2100 words today. I could have done better, but I’ll take it.
I didn’t get to the computer to write until late tonight, so I did an hour dictation session and got my words in. I’m writing this book a little differently, which is slowing me down in a big way: I’m writing it in Microsoft Word (cue shrieking violins).
I’m using Word because I’m doing an experiment. I want to use tracked changes to see how many edits I make during looping sessions. How does the chapter change from the moment I write it to the moment I commit it to my editor? Anyway, more on that when you read the book.
This book is off to somewhat of a slow start, but I picked up some good momentum tonight. It should carry into tomorrow now that I’ve established the idea and gotten a few chapters written.
I got the dictation book back from my editor, and it was quite possibly one of my CLEANEST manuscripts I’ve ever produced. My editor found 20 edits. In 12,500 words. That’s 1 edit per 625 words. And frankly, I could have prevented some of the 20 errors she caught with automation. If I could go back in time, the number would have been around 12, which would have brought the manuscript to 1 in 1000-ish words. That’s with a book that I wrote almost entirely with dictation……………..
Anyhoo, the dictation book is in a holding pattern. It’ll go to my proofreader next week.
I’ve currently got a logjam—I need to get the strategy book off to my designer, but I haven’t formatted it or put it into Vellum yet. I really need to do that tomorrow.
