I spent the rest of the day doing tax work, getting my books ready for the end of the tax year. I made some pretty good progress, but I’ve still got a ways to go before I’ll feel happy with it. The hardest work is over though. All my expenses (to date) are catalogued, archived, and on file in case I need them. I’ve also got a plan for 2022 that will save me time in preparing everything so that I don’t have to spend a bunch of time doing it at the end of the year, so that’s a win.
Next, I need to feed my royalty statements into my sales database. My database is current through the end of August, so it’s just September and October, which should only take about half an hour to aggregate for all retailers. That will give me a good idea of where I am for the year—I have a rough picture, but this will fill in the pixels, so to speak.
Anyhoo, most of my work today was very unglamorous, but necessary.

I’m off to get some words in, but my brain is jelly right now. The fact that I got 1200 words in today keeps me moving forward and still puts me on track to finish my current novel (or be very close to being done) by end of year.
