Great day today.

For reading, I almost finished Vol. 8 of IDW’s TMNT. Things are starting to go a little off the rails right now. I’m not crazy about this volume, honestly. Hopefully it will get better.

For data analysis, I yet again improved the quality of my dictation and transcription, mostly because I am not terribly observant sometimes. Turns out there’s a button on Dragon that you can uncheck when doing transcriptions. That button is called “Automatically add periods and commas.” Boy does it cause all sorts of problems. When I unchecked the button, the number of errors dropped even further!!! This would have come in really handy when I was writing Year of the Rat, but hey, I’m glad I found it now. I am amazed at how clean my dictation sessions are now. I’ve solved about 95% of the problems. Most issues now are because of me—either mispronouncing a word or saying something awkwardly. That’s a great feeling.

For marketing, I did a podcast interview with C. Ruth Taylor on her Authorpreneur Secrets Podcast. Ruth is a Jamaican author whose goal is to help Caribbean authors achieve their dreams. We had a great conversation about estate planning. Episode will go live next Monday, and I will share when it goes live.

I also signed up for a cover design course with Dean Wesley Smith that starts tomorrow. Looking forward to learning from it.

For production, I am sitting right at my quota today but I should end slightly ahead. I could have had a better day today but I had a backlog of dictation sessions that I needed to review and edit. That didn’t take long, but it did eat into my word counts today. Overall, 2750 clean words so far is still a fantastic number for the day.

Hope everyone had a good Labor Day in the US. Talk to you tomorrow.
