Interesting day today mostly playing with covers and Mid-Journey. That’s what I’ll focus on today.

I had to do some assignments for the course I’m taking on cover design. I’m going to bare my soul out here…

Keep in mind I just learned how to use InDesign a couple days ago. I’m still the equivalent of Elmer Fudd in it, but I’m making some progress. I played around with generating models and backgrounds in MidJourney. These don’t look terribly amazing but they prove a concept.

These photos have a lot of photo manipulation that’s needed. I’m not even sure if I can make them work. But I think I was able to “capture” the spirit of urban fantasy, even if only a tiny amount. I’ve got a lot to learn re: fonts, typography pairing, compositing, lighting, etc. And I need more on the covers that signify UF, but I think I was able to match the illustrated, moody feel that a lot of tradpub covers have.

Oh, and don’t get me started on the model’s faces…I’m including what they looked like BEFORE I ran them through an AI upscaler. Huge difference.

Anyway, feel free to laugh at me tonight. Or, if you want to give me some advice, I’ll take that too. The only way I’m going to improve is to keep at it.

In writing news, I’m almost done with my short story. I should finish tomorrow sometime. I’m under quota again today but that’s because I had to do this cover stuff.
