500 words today. Finally got my Writer’s Digest speech done. Rehearsed it twice and came in exactly where I needed to with time. Went over the slides about a dozen times and got them delivered to the event organizer. It’s baked now, so hopefully I don’t change my mind! Overall, I am happy with how the Powerpoint turned out. It makes a big difference when you buy premium slides (and when I say premium, I mean $20-$30 decks designed by professional designers). Makes everything smoother so I can focus on the content and the delivery.

Anyway, I spent a lot of time on my 2021 strategy. As you all know, I have five strategic priorities:

  1. Become a world-class content creator
  2. Become a world-class marketer
  3. Become a technology-driven writer
  4. Become a data-driven writer
  5. Become the writer of the future

What do each of those things mean? I know what they are, but how can I articulate them better? Now that I have a year under the strategy, I have a lot better insights on how to share and articulate them. I fleshed out “sub-priorities” today under each of the pillars. Looking forward to sharing that at the end of the year when I do my yearly scorecard videos. I may also write a book about author strategy.

Also, I bought a desk exercise bike so I can start getting some more exercise. The pandemic has taken a toll on my waistline…looking forward to changing some of my habits now that I’m waking up in the morning.

Near the end of the night, I even got to sit down and have a dedicated writing session, which was awesome.

All in all, a good day.
