0 words today. I made some updates to another old book and republished it. I’ve started cleaning up some of my 2014 books and making updates.

I keep pretty good records, but I have some gaps that I didn’t plan for that I have to learn the hard way.

I’m building a very comprehensive QA checklist that ensures that I have everything on file—cover designer contracts, stock photo licenses, proper dates for ACX exclusivity reversions, etc.

Going back through some of my 2014 book also make me realize the gravity of bad decisions of the past. For instance, ACX royalty-share agreements. Great idea at the time when I had no money and no clue, not such a great idea now if you read the contract terms. Nothing career-ending, but painful to understand knowing what I know now. That’s how you learn as a writer…….You’re going to make mistakes early in your career. It just depends on how bad they are. Fortunately, I was smart enough back then to avoid complete boneheaded mistakes, but mistakes still build character.

Going back to 2013/2014 also makes me realize how far I’ve come. Even back then, I still understood copyright pretty well and I also was smart enough to keep good records. That’s a good thing.

Anyhoo, have a great night.
