0 words again today, but boy did I have a metric crapton of new ideas today after doing some focused reading.
I came up with at least 10 different story/content ideas today.
I’ll probably pick up the writing again this weekend, but I’m enjoying the books I’m reading, and I’m getting through them pretty quickly.
I think next year is going to be the year I finally try to crack short fiction. I’ve written SOME short stories, but I’m getting the itch to write them again. I’m probably going to do the dual Ray Bradbury challenge:
#1: Read 1000 works of short status (short stories, poems, and essays altogether) in 2022
#2: Write 53 short stories in 2022 (yes, I know it’s only 52, but if I’m going to write that many, might as well go Beast Mode in the last week)
Why not? It could be a fun challenge.
I also started brainstorming about how I would handle the logistics of weaving in short fiction into my productivity. There’s a lot of things to consider such as:
- a workflow for finishing a story, getting it edited, and then out to magazines
- getting stories from one magazine to the next
- juggling stories…if I write one per week, that’s a lot of magazine submissions and juggling. Trying to figure out if there’s a way to automate this somehow.
- How long to wait before publishing that story (needs to be clockwork)
- If I’m going to publish my individual short stories…and if so, how to handle covers for them (which means I’ll have to do them myself)
- How to manage the huge influx of short work in my catalogue…it will create lots of issues long-term as people are wading through my catalogue, so I need to be smart about it
Anyhoo, very productive day today, and the gears are turning in a big way.
Have a good night.
