First off, there is a LOT in today’s blog post, including a book announcement at the bottom. 🙂
Late last night after I published yesterday’s blog post, I did a film shoot for Author Level Up. I recorded a review video for the writing app Dabble that will go live in a few weeks as well as a “let’s chat” type video. Most importantly, I recorded a speech that will be presented at the GDEX conference in a couple weeks. It’s one of the largest conferences for gamers in Ohio. My talk was on how authors create engaging characters—a behind the scenes look at how a working sci-fi and fantasy writer creates characters. You can register for GDEX free at http://www.thegdex.com.
The film shoot was rather long because the speech is about 20-30 minutes so I had to do a few takes. Then I had to upload everything to the cloud and create notes for my editor to get him situated because we need to be finished with it by end of the month. I was supposed to finish this last week but…beast mode.
I spent more time prepping Project Writing Tips for my editor. Thought I’d be done today but it will probably be a few more days. Not a big deal—this was the largest book in the beast mode collection so I’m giving myself some grace.
Also, my editor unexpectedly finished Project Atlas this afternoon, so now I’m going through her edits and will set the Vellum file up tonight and get the book cover ordered before bed.
The illustrator for Project Atlas promised to be done by Monday…we’ll see—she has a lot of work left to do. But either way, if I order the cover today I’ll have it sometime Monday or Tuesday, which means I can publish Project Atlas as soon as the illustrator is done. I’m trying to move quickly with Project Atlas because I kind of mentioned it on The Creative Penn…so it would be good for it to be live before the episode goes live! (Way to add extra stress to your life, Michael).
Anyway, the book announcement.
Friends, Project Confidential Vol. 1. is now: Indie Author Confidential: Secrets No One Will Tell You About Being a Writer, Vol. 1.

Feels very good to cross a book off my list! Book description is below. Grab it at https://authorlevelup.comconfidentialvol1. It’s available on Amazon (ebook and paper), Kobo, Apple, Google Play, etc.
As a reminder, I’ll be publishing a “beast mode collection” that will include this book, so FYI.
Here's the book description:
This book contains top secret knowledge that bestsellers don’t want you to know…
Just kidding! The information in this book IS secret, though. Bestsellers think it’s too boring, obvious, or mundane to talk about.
M.L. Ronn is the author of over 50 books of fiction and nonfiction. This book series is a diary of all the lessons he’s learning as he navigates how to master the craft of writing, marketing, and running a profitable publishing business.
Most writers don’t talk about the everyday lessons they learn. Some only start talking about their success once they’ve achieved it.
This book is the opposite: it’s about a writer learning how to be successful and documenting the process.
Here are a few things covered in Volume 1:
- Sneaky copywriting tricks
- How to conquer sales reports
- How to improve Amazon Associates earnings
- 4 areas artificial intelligence can help writers
The information in this book is what writers discuss over beers at writing conferences. You may find it useful on your journey to becoming a successful writer. It just might make you more money and help you satisfy your readers, too.
