4346 words today. I had to spend today prepping and delivering my speaking engagements today, so I took somewhat of a hit on my word count, but I added 20K to the book in the last 24 hours, so it’s all good.

Today, I spoke at the Writer’s Digest Science Fiction & Fantasy Conference. The topic was Craft Secrets of the Top 1% of Writers. Much of the talk was around the content in my Writing Craft Playbook. I got to geek out about the works of Michael Crichton, John Grisham, and even William Gibson. I learned a few new things from the questions readers asked. Super cool.

The event went very well. I was prepared and my new whiteboarding style really paid off dividends. Several folks emailed me after the course to ask questions and say thank you—that’s always a good sign.

My second event was chatting with Matty Dalrymple of the Indy Author Podcast. We talked about Emerging Tech for writers, and some of the experiments and efficiencies I’ve been able to develop for myself by harnessing technology and data. That was a fun conversation.

Both of my speaking engagements were back-to-back, and I was TIRED after the talks. I try not to double-book, but there was no way around it this time.

Anyway, my speaking events, I wanted to take a nap, but that didn’t happen. I did some housework and then I got back to work on the outlining book. I finished a chapter on research. Then, I jumped into the heart of the book—how to write your novel without an outline, in one draft. This will be an important chapter, but once I finish, I’ll open up voting because I’ll be around the 75% mark. Look for that soon!

And don’t forget, I’m offering beta copies for 2-3 beta readers for my Writing Without an Outline Book. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/CqzwzsUF61LzUnF57

I’m off to have another writing session or two before the night is over. Have a good night.
