There’s a lot in this post. New book announcement below + a special holiday offer with the launch of my new direct store.

I got my next book off to my editor and it will be back next week. I got the artwork picked out for the cover and the book description written so it will be ready to rock as soon as possible.

I also started taking another course from Dean Wesley Smith on “Power Words.” Very interesting and very eye-opening on how mega-bestsellers use certain words to hook readers.

I also did some additional QA checks and got a few more books checked off my list. Amazon has STILL not published the changes for a few books that I published around Halloween. There’s a site-wide bug they’re dealing with. Kind of annoying but not the end of the world. The changes I made were all typos and minor in nature, but boy, if I was an author making major changes because of an upcoming promotion or something for the holidays, I’d be sweating bullets right now.

I was also on the Ken and G Podcast tonight and we chatted about books and being an author. I’ll share a link when it goes live.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Y’all know that I very rarely do sales.

I FINALLY got my new direct store off the ground today, and it contains fiction + nonfiction. The only items missing are the KU titles right now but those will be available next month. Save 30% off anything you buy directly by using the code THANKYOU: https://payhip.com/MichaelLaRonn

I hope that anything you buy will help you improve your writing or have fun escaping into a new world over the holidays. This has been a crazy year and we all deserve some relaxation.

(Beast Mode Collection 2021 is coming next week…)

TIME TO START ANOTHER NOVEL

It’s time to start writing The Good Necromancer Book 4, which I will start immediately after posting this. I have an idea for an arc for Books 4-6 and I’ll be experimenting with a different type of villain that I’ve never written before.

When I start a new novel, I always set one or two things I want to “practice.” I practice these items repeatedly throughout the manuscript, and they’re my main focus areas. The Good Necromancer series has been great practice for me. In some respects, the series is a study in villains for me.

Book 1 was about practicing the first-person POV and getting used to it.

Book 2 was about practicing a new type of villain (a very unusual vampire).

Book 3 was about practicing a different type of novel structure and a different type of villain (a couple).

Anyway, every book is an opportunity to practice the craft. Every writing session is an opportunity to practice too. I’m looking forward tonight.

Anyhoo, I’ve got a book to announce. I’m officially at 70 published books, and that’s crazy to think about. Time to update all my marketing materials…

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow everyone.

INTRODUCING ADVANCED AUTHOR EDITING

An advanced book to help you improve your editing and create cleaner manuscripts!

Have you ever scrolled through edits recommended by your book editor and thought, “How can I avoid some of these mistakes next time?”

Maybe you've written down a list of “problem edits” to check with every manuscript you write (which is super time-consuming!)

What if there were another way to use automation and existing tools on your computer to cut down on the number of typos and errors in your work?

In this short guide, prolific author M.L. Ronn covers the process he's used to reduce the number of edits from his editor significantly. He also includes companion videos to help you see the more technical side of things.

This book is not for the faint of heart, and it is primarily for intermediate and advanced authors who aren’t afraid to get technical. But if you use the tips in this book, it will take your editing to new levels.

Oh, and folks, don’t forget about the NaNoWriMo bundle I’m participating in. Early feedback is that the books are FIRE and people are finding it very helpful for the challenge. 16 books, pay-what-you-want, and some really good advice. www.storybundle.com/nano
