About 900-ish words today. I’m back at it, but some interesting things happened while I was away.
First, I hurt my back. It went out again and yesterday was pretty rough. Couldn’t really concentrate, so I focused on reading and consuming content. And boy did I come up with a really cool idea for a villain to use in a future series. I heard someone talk about their life experience on a podcast (that I was listening to on the couch), and I had this really interesting idea that I’ll let germinate and see what happens. Anyhoo, my back is still sore but I’m back in the saddle again and the fog in my mind has lifted somewhat.
Sometimes you just have to deal with pain. Sometimes it strikes and puts you out of commission where you can’t even think about writing. When that happens, don’t think about writing, do what you can to recover, and live to fight another day. Not worth tearing your body up over that.
Second thing is that I got a pet turtle. She’s a 10-year old turtle who is very friendly and curious. (The reason my back went out is probably because I had to lug the aquarium into the house. It was super awkward and not fun.) Anyhoo, the turtle is situated, pretty happy, and I don’t have to worry about getting her comfortable anymore.
Anyway, I’m still shy of the 40K goal I wanted to hit, but I can live with that.
Novel-wise, the chapter I finished tonight ended up being longer than I thought, and it hinted at a part of the ending (I think), so today wasn’t all bad.
Also, I was interviewed by Matty Dalrymple of the Indy Author Podcast. We talked about bringing a creative endeavor to an end, and why I ended my Writer’s Journey podcast. You might enjoy if you listened to my shows. Listen/watch at: https://www.theindyauthor.com/090—bringing-a-creative-endeavor-to-an-end.html
Have a good night.
