No words yet tonight, but I’ll be writing after I publish this. 1500 words last night.

I successfully finished all of my class work today. I got six weeks’ worth of classwork done in one week: 300+ pages of reading, 350+ powerpoint slides, 270 multiple choice questions, 20 essay questions, a four-page writing assignment, and some other miscellaneous work…now I’m done. Somehow I managed to not lose any writing time. Time to move on and get book #55 done and some ALLi work done, as I have a lot of things I kind of left hanging this week.

I got the edits back for Indie Author Confidential Vol. 4 and that one is good to go. I scouted cover design images tonight but will make a final decision tomorrow.

My editor gave me some good feedback on the editing engine I’m working on, and I was able to program a fair amount of her edits into the editing engine for the next book. Retrospectively, I estimate that I could have caught around 20-30% of the errors I made this time, if I had had these errors programmed into the engine before sending to my editor.

My book average is 290 edits.

Indie Author Confidential is about 41,000 words. This book received 198 edits, so it beat my average by 31%.

That’s approximately 1 edit per 232 words on average, which is about 1 error per 250-word page. That’s better than my average of 177. I still think that’s too low. I’d like to see somewhere around 1 edit per 400-500 words.

If I could have gone back in time, my editor might have only caught 138 edits, which is 1 edit per 300 words. So I’m not that far off.

NEXT BOOK IS IN THE PUBLISHING HOPPER

I got Indie Author Confidential Vol. 4 loaded up into Vellum. I’ll order the cover tomorrow which means I’ll have it back by Thursday, so the book will be published then, just ahead of when I anticipate getting my novel back from my editor. Writing is a juggling act…

Anyway, I’ve got some writing to do. I wrote around 1500 words last night, and I think I can do the same tonight before the night gets too old. I have a 6AM livestream with Orna Ross—we’re doing a AskALLi Member Q&A podcast for February. Fun!

Have a good night.
