1200 words today, which is a fitting start after not writing any words last week.
Woke up at 6AM today and started a new routine. Got the house tidied up, made breakfast and took care of some loose ends until 7:45. Then I got my daughter ready for (virtual) school and went to work.
Last night I deep cleaned my studio which was much needed. I'm trying to start a routine where I have everything reset and clean on Monday mornings. Makes my Mondays more productive, like it did today.
I remained at inbox zero all day, which was awesome.
I also recorded this week’s episodes of The Writer’s Journey and Writing Tip of the Day. I am teaching an insurance class tomorrow and my voice is going to be shot tomorrow night and Wednesday, so getting it out of the way now.
Also made a little progress preparing Project Writing Tips for my editor. I had to accept less time on it today because writing more words was more important.
I wrote 1200 words to Project Author Income, which was a good start. I’m happy with what I have so far. This will be a short book. I’d be shocked if it tops 10,000. It’ll be fairly technical, but I’m trying to simplify it as much as possible. This is probably the most important “thought leadership” book I’ve written so far. It’ll sell only a handful of copies in its lifetime, and I’m okay with that. But the book is the only one I know of that’s willing to tackle a serious problem in the author community and propose a sustainable solution for it, and a path to get there so that all of us can benefit. I win if someone reads it and has the skills to do what I suggest.
Anyway, I hit all my goals for the day with time still left over, which is fortunate because that doesn’t always happen. I spent the rest of the night brainstorming a potential project for next year. You’ll hear more about it on The Writer’s Journey in the Idea of the Week section.
Tomorrow will be an exhausting day, so I’m going easy on myself. If I get just a few hundred that will be a win.
