0 words today, but I did a lot of work.

First, I reviewed the outline and cleaned it up to match what I wrote. I only had to make some minor corrections here and there. My spreadsheet is fully populated and ready for the future.

Second, I started doing my final loop of the story. I started with the final chapter, then jumped to the first chapter, then the penultimate chapter, etc.

I also incorporated a brief review of Book 1 into this process. Once I reviewed Chapter 38 in Book 2, I’d read Chapter 38 in Book 1, just to see if there were any details that I needed to keep consistent between the two books. That slowed me down, but the exercise has been worth it. You’d be surprised at how much a Book 2 can differ from a Book 1, especially if you write them months or years apart. This is a useful exercise, but it is slowing me down.

Overall, I got through around 16 chapters today (out of 41), which is around 40% of the novel reviewed.

Third, I prepared novel excerpts for my fact-checkers. They’re on-board and will start working tomorrow, with a delivery date of early next week.

Since I provide excerpts to the fact checkers, I have to give them a lot of context and be specific on what I want them to look at. It took most of the evening to get things ready for them.

As I was providing context and summarizing things for them, I realized, “Holy crap, this novel is super dark.”

There’s very intense scenes with rats, demons, necromancy, murders, and way more. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how complex it ended up being. Somehow it works.

I didn’t realize how dark it was until now. It might even be a bit much for some. It’s one of those stories where, if you read it, it’s fine, but when you vocalize it and tell other people about it, you suddenly become very aware of just how insane it is. I suppose all writers have that problem LOL

I should be able to move much faster tomorrow. After my final loop, then it’s a waiting game for my fact-checkers. My editors are lined up and ready to go so I can pull the trigger whenever I’m ready.
