Several of you have left very thoughtful and helpful comments on my most recent video on Kindle Vella, and YouTube has been deleting them. I have no reason why. I know you’ve been leaving them because I get notifications on my phone. I was literally typing a response to one this morning when YouTube deleted it.
Rest assured that I don’t delete any comments on this channel unless you’re being an asshole. That’s why I feel bad that these comments got deleted because there was nothing in the comments that should have triggered the algorithms.
If anyone knows how to address this, please let me know. I spent a good hour today trying to solve this and to no avail. I don’t want folks to think that I’m censoring comments—I very rarely delete anything and I let most if not all comments through. Sorry about this.
Anyhoo, I started the day with a 6AM podcast for ALLi with Orna Ross (The AskALLi Member Q&A Podcast) We answered a fair amount of questions, but we focused on email marketing. That should drop this Friday or next.
I also I spoke at a virtual panel sponsored by the Author’s Guild today re: Marketing for Indie Authors. Myself, Susan Kaye Quinn, Nicholas Erik, and Pamela Kelley were on the panel. All very, very good panelists with a lot of success and wisdom. In particular, if you haven’t checked out Nicholas Erik, check out his free marketing guide that he has on his website. Probably one of the clearest articulations of marketing basics that I’ve read. https://nicholaserik.com/book-marketing-crash-course/
Jane Friedman was the moderator, and man, she has to be the best moderator of all time. She emcee’d the panel, was listening and following all the panelists, kept all the panelist on track and on time, and was even answering viewer questions in the chat—with super long and detailed responses. Mad respect to her on that. If you’re not subscribed to Jane’s Hot Sheet, give it a try. It’s one of the best publishing industry round-ups and worth every penny.
Over 800 people were present at the event, and it’s really funny because once a Zoom call gets over a certain amount, you can’t tell. As far as I knew, it could have been just a few people. Anyway, the audience of writers were great—lots of good questions and engagement.
I booked another engagement today—I’ll be appearing at the Writer’s Digest Virtual Novel Writing Conference in January, and I’ll be talking about writing apps, so that will be fun. 2022 is shaping up to be a crazy speaking year—7 engagements already and that’s only through June. I suspect more are on the way.
Anyhoo, time to write. Writing got away from me today but I intend to not let this be a zero day.
Also, there’s a Power Hour this Saturday. If I can swing it, I’ll be announcing the Beast Mode Collection. 🙂
